Death: not sure, but I did find one obituary that was within 2 years. I also found this on a Cook County Marriage
and Death Index for Andreas Olsen (58 – died 7/19/1888). My guess is that this
is not my relative. The obituary
(7/16/1888) (find it at genealogybank.com) gave his address as 149 Chicago
Avenue – burial at Mount Olivet which matches the cemetery Penny gave me. I found an Andres Olsen in the 1888 city
directory living at the 149 Chicago Avenue address. He was listed as a laborer. I could not find a Paul Olsen. However, I just realized that Paul Olsen did
not immigrate to the U.S. until 1888.
My most recent theory is that this is Louis Andresen’s father. I have reason to believe that in Norway, Louis was Louitz Olsen (see Norwegian records)
I found a Paul Olsen in the 1890 Chicago directory who lived at 749 Seymour and was a watchman.
I’m still trying to determine if this was Paul Olsen’s father or Louis Andresen’s father. I do know that my 2nd great grandfather - tree from Norway was named Andreas Olsen. Although the obvious choice would be Paul Olsen as his son, I have also heard from multiple sources that the name “Andresen” was a combination of Andreas and Olsen.
I also know that Louis Andresen purchased burial plots in Chicago (source: Penny Spangler) and that Andreas was buried there. So it could have been his father or his father-in-law who was buried there. Right now my hunch is Andreas was the father of Paul Olsen, but I can’t say that with any certainty right now.

1900 U.S. Census Summary 1910 U.S. Census Summary
* Evidently Louis and Inga had two sons, both named Louis, who died in childhood. The first was named Louis Walter who only lived for five days. The only resource for his middle name is the 1896-01-17 Cook County Illinois Birth Certificates Index. Then in the 1900 U.S. Census, Inga is shown as having three children but only two as living. We know that Louis Walter was the child who had died before the census
A second son, also named Louis, is shown on the 1900 U.S. Census and is listed as being born in October of 1898. Sine this child does not appear on the 1910 U.S. Census when he would have been only eleven years old, I must conclude that this son died sometime between 1900 and 1910. This census must be incorrect when it shows that Inga was the mother 3, 3 of which are living. From the other records, it is clear that she was, in fact, the mother of 5, 3 or which were living.
1903-04-13 Birth Announcement – son born to Mr. and Mrs. Louis Anderson of Washington Street on Sunday. This is only one day off of when Raymond Andresen was born. He was actually born on a Saturday. Also there is a Louis Andersen listed in the 1903 Elkhart City Directory as a brass foreman who lives at 310 W. Washington. It lists his wife’s name as Tenga (most likely Inga).
1914-09-02 confined to home with hay fever – Elkhart Daily Review
Note: For some reason, both Louis and Inga
show ages that are only 8 years younger in 1900 than they were in 1910.
Cook County Illinois Marriages Index – Louis (28), birth about 1865, married 8/5/1893 in Cook County, Illinois, married Inga M. Olsen (21).
1893-08-06 – Newspaper listing of marriage license – Daily Inter Ocean

1923-08-09 Elkhart Truth Obituary – listed as Inga Marie Andresen (51); wife of Louis Andresen of 1128 Cassopolis Street; died 8/8/1923 at 10:30 p.m. at Elkhart General Hospital; death caused by appendicitis and other internal ailments; she was fine on previous Saturday spending day at family cottage at Simonton Lake, stricken Sunday, went to hospital on Monday where she had an emergency operation; daughter of Paul Sophie Olsen, born on 12/27/1871 in Christiana, Norway; came to U.S. with her family when she was 16 ~1887 making home in Chicago; married Louis 8/5/1892; they moved to Elkhart 10 years later ~1902; survivors: husband Louis, sons Andrew, Raymond and Harold (all of Elkhart), her parents (Elkhart); brothers Adolph and Thomas Olsen (Elkhart) sisters Mrs. Conrad Magnuson (Chicago) and Mrs. Henry Thompson (Elkhart); funeral 8/11, burial at Rice Cemetery.
Notes from Dad: Inga died of appendicitis before any of her sons were married.
Note: There evidently was another Inga Marie Andresen that came over from London and arrived in the U.S. 4/17/1911. She shows up on the passenger list along with her husband Hans.

Birth:

Death: 2/21/1915 in Fort Steilacoom, Pierce, WA
Marriage: Unknown
I though I had found this person in subsequent censuses. The person I found was married to a Lillian and they had two daughters named Hazel and Jeanette. However, the estimated birth dates in the 1940 census were way off, but the clincher was that he had his mother living with him in 1940 and her name was Marie. Also if the Washington Death record is accurate, my grand uncle died in 1915.

I found quite a bit of missing information in RootsWeb. His middle name was Carl. He was born 6/22/1902 in Michigan City, IN and he died on 7/6/1990 in Muskegon, MI. His father’s name was Charles Olaf Olsen and his mother was Martha Andresen (interesting that it is spelled Andresen here). His wife’s name was Gertrude Beekman.

I believe that Gustave and Alvilda are
buried in the same cemetery section that some of the Olsens and Andresens are
buried. Gustave and Alvilda moved to Elkhart
sometime between 1920 (U.S. Census has them living in Chicago) and 1926 (found
them in Elkhart City Directory for just 1924 and 1926) Gustave was listed in
the Chicago City Directory in 1915. They
are shown in the 1930 U.S. Census as living in Chicago, and then Gustave’s
obituary is in the Elkhart paper.
Another confusing point is that in Gertrude (Solberg) Thompson’s record in Illinois, Deaths and Stillbirths, his wife is listed as Alvilda Olsen (not Andresen)

article celebrating his birthday
Death: 1935 (taken from tombstone)
Marriage: 5/4/1909
* Henry Thompson was the husband of My grand aunt (12.500) - tree: Olga (Thompson) Olsen who was the sister of my great grandmother Inga (Andresen) Olsen. He was also the son of another great grand aunt, Alvilda (Thompson) Andresen who was the sister of my great grandfather.
Note: there was another Henry Thompson who
was a farmer living in Adamsville at the same time. His wife’s name was Florence. From articles I read, I believe their son,
Private Henry Thompson, died in 1919 in Russian of pneumonia during the war.
Did newspaper search
on Henry Thompson in Elkhart papers (gone through 130/222)
Also do a search on H.G.
