Although I am not certain that this is the same Isaac Girten for all censuses,
the newspaper article about his divorce
does match up with the 1900 census, and his son from the1880 census with the
name Ira matches up with the 1900 census so those two people. One contradiction is that the 1880 census
shows he was born in Ohio, but the other censuses including the 1900 census
list his birthplace as NJ. The other
question is whether his middle initial is S or N.

1906-06-09 Grandson chokes to Death with Tonsillitis, article mentions boys name as Louis Harper (13), also says Loretta Girten of Liberty Street was his maternal grandmother. Her son-in-law’s name was John L. Harper, who had passed away a few months earlier. Her daughter had passed away in 1906. I found out that John L. Harper had been living at 701 Middlebury Street. The article shows that his mother lived at 730 Middlebury Street. John’s wife’s name was Ella Harper (this could be Elsie Gertin), who would have been the child’s mother and the daughter of Loretta Girten. I found a marriage index showing that they were married on 12/29/1894
